According to transfer expert Pete O’Rourke on X, Nottingham Forest have now agreed a deal to sign Linfield and Northern Ireland U21 defender Matthew Orr, who was at the City Ground to watch the clash against West Ham on Sunday and finalise the move.

At just 18-years-old, the youngster is likely to be one for the future, but he has already started to catch the eye for Linfield at senior level.

Linfield midfielder and coach Chris Shields has been left very impressed by the Forest-bound defender in the past, saying: “I remember Matty training – he was a sleight kid then, so I had to do a double take when he came into senior training. I was questioning if it was the same person because he had filled out over a couple of years.

“He’s met everything head on and his skill level at one-on-one defending is one of the best I’ve seen. He’s exceptional.”

Shields is not the only person who has singled the Linfield starlet out for praise either, with manager David Healy saying: “Matthew is a great young talent with a lot of potential to develop into a top player. He has taken his opportunities and his dedication and hard work have paid off.”

Despite still being a teenager, Orr, who shares the same CAA Base agency as Chris Wood, has already established himself as a first-team regular for Linfield, making 37 first-team appearances, so he is clearly a top prospect, who could be capable of pushing for a starting spot at Forest within a couple of years’ time.

With Monday’s transfer deadline fast approaching, Aston Villa have reportedly launched a shock £47m offer to sign a late midfield reinforcement for Unai Emery.

The Villans are attempting to salvage their summer after battling with PSR constraints since the end of last season. So far, the current window has seen Evann Guessand, Yasin Ozcan and Marco Bizot all arrive, but after Emery revealed his desire to have two players in every position, the Midlands club may not be done with their incomings just yet.

The rumours have been coming thick and fast since those words and all eyes are now on Monchi as Aston Villa look to bolster their squad one final time this summer.

Of those mentioned, the biggest name has been Marco Asensio. It seemed as though Aston Villa were destined to miss out on the Spaniard after an excellent loan spell last season, but fresh reports have now indicated that they’ve made their move and he could be on the way.

The Paris Saint-Germain winger was a real difference-maker for the Villans last season and would no doubt add the further firepower that they’ve lacked in recent weeks.

The same, meanwhile, can be said for another Premier League rival that Aston Villa have already reportedly launched a shock bid to sign late on in the window.

It seems like West Ham are in no mood to compromise, either. TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook has been quick to burst Villa’s bubble, reporting that a move, at this stage, is unlikely for Paqueta with West Ham unwilling to agree a loan deal that includes an obligation to buy. As such, Villa are not in a position to afford the midfield star.

Things can quickly change in a transfer window, however, and Paqueta remains one to watch. Dubbed “incredible” by David Moyes during his time at West Ham, the South American is certainly one worth fighting for.

Torrent Group, an Indian business conglomerate with headquarters in Ahmedabad, is set to buy a majority stake in 2022 IPL champions Gujarat Titans (GT). ESPNcricinfo has learned that Torrent will buy a 67% stake in GT from CVC Capital Partners (Irelia Company Pte Ltd), who bought the franchise in 2021.At the moment, further details, including the valuation of the stake divested by CVC, could not be confirmed. It is understood the IPL is processing the paperwork before a final nod is given by the league’s governing council. Subject to the final approval, GT’s new owners could likely be involved from the 2025 season, which starts on March 21.CVC, a global private equity fund, had paid INR 5625 crore (US$ 750 million approx.) in 2021 to buy GT, who won the IPL in their first season (2022), made the final the following year (2023) and finished eighth in 2024. GT’s home base is the Narendra Modi Stadium, the world’s largest cricket stadium with a capacity of over 100,000.Incidentally, Torrent Group’s subsidiary, Torrent Sports Ventures Private Limited, was among the final nine bidders at the walk-in auction conducted by the BCCI in 2021 to add two new franchises to the original eight.The bidders then could bid for six cities, which included Indore, Dharamsala, Guwahati and Cuttack along with Ahmedabad and Lucknow, the eventual winners. Torrent bid for Ahmedabad (INR 4653 cr) and Lucknow (INR 4356 cr). However, having been in charge since January and been given the opportunity to bring in his own players in the summer, it remains to be seen how much longer the Englishman can last, considering his record up to this point is extremely poor.

The 50-year-old has averaged just 0.96 points per match, and has the second-worst Premier League win percentage of any West Ham manager at just 27.3%.

As such, the Hammers’ hierarchy are now starting to run the rule over potential replacements, according to reporter Alan Nixon (via GiveMeSport), who states David Sullivan is an admirer of former Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

Nuno was a huge success at The City Ground, meaning he has now emerged as a contender to replace Potter at West Ham, but they may have to move quickly, given that the 51-year-old is likely to be attracting interest courtesy of the job he did at Forest.

At this stage, the Hammers are looking like serious relegation candidates, having lost three of their opening four games, which leaves them 18th in the Premier League table.

Consequently, it would make sense to bring in a manager with a proven track record of being able to transform struggling sides into European contenders, and that is exactly what the former Forest boss managed to do in his last job.

After taking over a Forest side that only narrowly avoided relegation the season prior, the Portuguese coach led them to the Europa League, and he was praised for the “incredible” job he did by Sky Sports’ Sam Obaseki, while also receiving plaudits from Fabrizio Romano.

Nuno could be an excellent appointment for West Ham, given that he is vastly experienced in the Premier League, having also managed Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Sullivan should move swiftly to ensure he wins the race.

وأضافت: “نود الإعراب عن أسفنا الشديد لعدم إمكانية إقامة هذا الحدث، الذي كان يمثل فرصة تاريخية لا مثيل لها لتسويق كرة القدم الإسبانية، حيث كان من شأن إقامة مباراة رسمية خارج حدودنا أن تشكل خطوة حاسمة في التوسع العالمي لمسابقتنا، مما يعزز الحضور الدولي للأندية، ومكانة اللاعبين، وعلامة كرة القدم الإسبانية في سوق استراتيجي كالولايات المتحدة”.

وواصلت: “لقد امتثل المشروع تمامًا للوائح الاتحاد، ولم يؤثر على نزاهة المسابقة، كما أقرت بذلك الجهات المختصة المشرفة على الامتثال، والتي عارضتها لأسباب أخرى”.

واسترسلت: “وفي ظل تزايد التنافسية العالمية، حيث تواصل دوريات مثل الدوري الإنجليزي، وكذلك مسابقات مثل دوري أبطال أوروبا، توسيع نطاقها وقدرتها على توليد الموارد، تُعد مبادرات كهذه ضرورية لضمان استدامة ونمو كرة القدم الإسبانية”.

وأوضحت: “إغفال هذه الفرص يعيق توليد إيرادات جديدة، كما يحد من قدرة الأندية على الاستثمار والمنافسة، بخلاف ذلك فإنه يحد من الانتشار الدولي لمنظومة كرة القدم الوطنية بأكملها”.

واختمت: “نتقدم بالشكر للأندية على استعدادها وتعاونها في هذا المشروع، وعلى التزامها المستمر بنمو المسابقة، نحن سنواصل العمل، كعادتنا، لإيصال كرة القدم الإسبانية إلى جميع أنحاء العالم، من خلال رؤية منفتحة وحديثة وتنافسية تعود بالنفع على الأندية واللاعبين والجماهير”.
